BOO! October is full of books, beer, ghosts and my favorite lunchtime concerts at the Landmark. Cooler air gives us an excuse to start the warm and cozy.

YMCA Garage Sale, State Fairgrounds, 9am-7pm. The YMCA Garage Sale features clothing, furniture, appliances, athletic equipment, books and many other household items. Proceeds go towards funding YMCA Camp Widjiwagan and Camp du Nord.

Butterfly House opens, Science Museum.  See dozens of species close-up, their national behaviors, and explore their life cycles.

Social Science, Science Museum, 6-11pm, 21+.  Undead, explore the creepier sides of science – electrical reanimation, mummification, and flesh eating bugs.

Throwback Thursday, MNHC, 7-10pm.  21+ event with activities based on the Toys of the 50s, 60s, and 70s Exhibit.

Design Zone, Science Museum, Video game developers, music producers, roller coaster designers and other creative problem solvers using math to do amazing things.

Local author David LaRochelle and local illustrator Mike Wohnoutka, featuring their book MOO!, winner of the 2014 Minnesota Book Award in the Children’s Literature category. Live music by Pop Wagner. The trunk show will last approximately 40 minutes, after which the presenters will be available to sign books and interact with families. Snacks, crafts, and a petting zoo with cows and sheep from Walton’s Hollow. For kids ages 0-6 and their families.
