Summer Flower Show, Como Conservatory, thru Oct.  Some new plants for the 2013 Summer Show are the Cartwheel series of Gerbera Daisy, with very large, semi-double flowers, Buddleja Buzz magenta, the richly fragrant Origanium Kent Beauty with its hop like flowers, Cassia Popcorn with leaves that smell like popcorn, Kangaroo Paw Cape Red Lead.

Pilobolus, Ordway, 7:30pm.  Seen on Oprah, Conan O’Brien and the Oscars – they stretch one’s definition of modern dance through their highly athletic and inventive performances.

Minnesota and the Civil War Day, History Center, noon-4pm. Lincoln, illustrated storytelling, Civil War era music, fashions and game,art activities,a recruiting station where guests can dress up and practice drills, and a photo op with members of the First Minnesota Regiment. Costumed History Players and artifact displays.

Tuesday, May 7

Acting for Everyone, History Theatre, 6:30-8:30pm.  The class will meet on two Tuesday evenings; $50. ArtSage Workshop taught by Paul de Cordova. Drawing from the letters of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, this class will introduce participants to the worlds of acting and performance while exploring the exciting and romantic lives of two icons of the Jazz Age and American literature. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Anything Goes opens, Ordway, 7:30pm. Thru May 12.  When the S.S. American heads out to sea, etiquette and convention get tossed out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love.

Mother’s Day Bonsai Show, Como Conservatory Ordway Gardens

Writing from Memory, History Theatre, 10-11am.  Class meets four Saturday mornings; $50.  ArtSage Workshop taught by Erin Hart.  Do you have a few old family photos that have always intrigued you? Maybe you have stories or a bit of interesting family history you'd like to explore. This fun and accessible workshop will use the tools of writing to explore your personal or family stories and bring them to life on the page. Absolutely no experience necessary and everyone is welcome!

Fitzgerald Walking Tour, History Theatre, 11am.  $45.00 includes the tour, bottle of water for your walk and the 2 pm showing of THIS SIDE OF PARADISE at History Theatre.

Science Night Minnesota – Mission to Mars, Fitzgerald, 7pm.  John Grotzinger, the head of NASA’s Mars Curiosity mission, is coming to Saint Paul to share the latest research and a behind the scenes look at the red planet’s robot rover.
