Thursday, March 1 MSHSL Wrestling Tournament thru March 3

The Schubert Club's "Courtroom Concert", Landmark Courtroom 317, noon, FREE. This month’s concerts will feature The Art of the Ensemble.  Today’s featured ensemble is the Elkina Sisters, on duo piano.  The concert is being hosted by Schubert Club Composer-in-Residence, Abbie Betinis.

The Fresh Beat Band, Fitzgerald Theatre, 2 & 5pm.  Nickelodeon’s most popular preschool band.

Friday, March 2

Coco’s Diary opens, History Theatre, thru March 25. Young Clotilde “Coco” Irvine, is the daughter of a lumber baron living in a fashionable Summit Avenue mansion in 1927. For her birthday she is given a diary in which she faithfully chronicles the ups and downs of the rollercoaster that is her thirteenth year of life. Coco’s Diary leads audiences on a winsome romp alongside our smart, adventurous, mischievous heroine surrounded by the beguiling music of the 1920s.  

MN Opera: Lucia di Lammermoor opens, Ordway, 7:30pm thru March 11.  One of Donizetti’s most powerful and gripping operas, Lucia secretly loves Edgardo, her clan’s enemy. But scheming to restore the family’s fortune, her brother forces her into a loveless marriage – with disastrous consequences.

Landmark begins the ever popular “touring program” without ever having go leave St. Paul.  Today’s program will feature Chinese dancing, singing and more.  Have your children participate in making some Chinese crafts and artwork.  Learn about a country that comprises ¼ of the entire world’s population!

Urban Expedition: Ecuador!, Landmark Musser Cortile, 1pm, FREE. Landmark features the second country of its ever popular “touring program” without ever having go leave St. Paul.  Today’s program will feature Ecuador dancing, wind pipe music, singing and more.  Have your children participate in making some coloring of images that display Ecuadorian culture, crafts and artwork.  Learn about a country that comprises some of the most scenic vistas in the world!

Live at Five, McNally Smith, 5pm. McNally Smith College of Music faculty, with student performers opening for each faculty artist. Get there early for the best seats. Each performance kicks off at 5 p.m. with appetizers and student performers in the atrium, with the headliners taking the stage at 6 p.m. FREE
Memphis opens, Ordway, 7:30pm thru March 25.  From the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, comes a hot new Broadway musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love. Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Ballet Tuesdays, Landmark Musser Cortile, 12pm, FREE.  Today’s free ballet performance will have the SPCB Outreach and SPCB Studio Company in Simple Pleasures. The performances will take place over the lunch hour in the Musser cortile and guests can bring a bag lunch or purchase lunch at Anita’s Café.
